Advantages of Sharing Estate Planning Details

Sharing your estate planning details with loved ones can offer several advantages, such as transparency and a smoother transition when you die or are unable to manage your own affairs.

By discussing estate planning with your family, you can ensure that your loved ones know what to expect. You can explain your perspective and the reasoning behind your decisions so your loved ones understand your wishes. Discussing your estate planning may make those involved more likely to accept your wishes and cooperate during the administration, making the entire process more efficient. Your loved ones may have questions or concerns and that gives you an opportunity to address them.

However, there are disadvantages to sharing your estate plan. I’ll discuss the advantages and disadvantages in more detail in the coming weeks.
