Jason Krautkramer has been a practicing attorney for 9+ years. His local connections and appreciation for our Central Wisconsin community set him apart.
Jason grew up in Marathon, Wisconsin, on his parents’ dairy and ginseng farm. Growing up in a rural environment led Jason to become an avid outdoorsman with a passion for managing and hunting whitetail deer. After attending Marathon High School, Jason attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his bachelor of business administration degree (accounting and finance), master of accountancy degree (emphasis in taxation) and law degree (estate planning concentration). Jason is a devoted Wisconsin Badgers sports fan.
As a lawyer, Jason has combined his passions for the outdoors and the tax code with his law practice. Jason’s favorite practice area is the tax efficient protection, preservation and transfer of family recreational assets, such as hunting land, waterfront cabins/cottages and firearms, to the next generation, while ensuring there is a management structure in place to maintain the recreational assets.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys living in the Midwest with some of the best outdoors activities in the country – hunting, boating, and spending time with his wife, friends, family, and his two dogs, Stevie, the labradoodle and Eva, the black lab.

At Eckert & Krautkramer, LLC, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, knowledgeable, and personalized legal solutions to seniors and their families across Wisconsin. From our office in Wausau, we serve clients statewide, guiding them through the complexities of estate planning, Medicaid eligibility, guardianship, and long-term care planning.
Our mission is to protect legacies, preserve dignity, and ensure peace of mind by delivering ethical, client-centered legal counsel. We are committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of older adults while helping families navigate life’s transitions with confidence and security.
Vision Statement
At Eckert & Krautkramer, LLC we envision a future where every senior and their family in Wisconsin has access to clear, compassionate, and effective legal guidance. Our goal is to be the leading elder law firm in the State, recognized for our dedication to protecting assets, preserving dignity, and empowering families with proactive planning.
We strive to create a lasting impact by advocating for seniors’ rights, simplifying complex legal processes, and ensuring that aging individuals receive the care and protection they deserve. Through innovation, education, and unwavering commitment, we aim to build a legacy of trust and excellence in elder law.
Consultation Charge
At Eckert & Krautkramer, LLC, we generally do not offer a free consultation. However, if you decide to engage our firm to represent you, your consultation fee will be applied toward the cost of any future services we provide. This will effectively waive the initial consultation fee. We have found that this arrangement gives clients a low-cost, low-risk opportunity to discuss legal matters while protecting our firm from individuals who don’t intend to retain our firm and just want free legal advice.
When searching for an estate planning attorney, you may come across firms that offer free initial consultations. While this can be a great opportunity, it’s important to understand both the benefits and limitations of a free consultation before scheduling your appointment. From what we have seen, most free consultations end up being a sales pitch where the firm tries to sell their services rather than provide meaningful initial guidance.
At Eckert & Krautkramer, LLC, we believe that planning for the future is too important to be rushed or treated as a sales opportunity. That’s why we offer a comprehensive estate & elder law planning consultation—a personalized, attorney-led meeting designed to provide real guidance, not just a sales pitch.
Unlike free consultations that often serve as marketing tools, our planning session is a working meeting focused on you and your unique needs. During this session, you will:
- Discuss Your Goals & Concerns – Whether you’re planning for long-term care, asset protection, or legacy planning, we take the time to understand what matters most to you.
- Receive Tailored Legal Guidance – We analyze your situation and provide clear, actionable recommendations on estate planning, Medicaid eligibility, trusts, and other elder law strategies.
- Get Answers to Your Questions – This session is about education, not pressure – we provide transparent information so you can make informed decisions.
- Understand Costs & Next Steps – You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what legal solutions fit your needs and the associated costs – no surprises, no hidden fees.
Your future and your family’s security deserve careful planning – not a sales pitch. Schedule your Comprehensive Estate & Elder Law Planning Session today and start making informed decisions with confidence.
